Tony DeStefano 9th August 2008

I was a colleague of Sandy's at New York Newsday and remember a vivacious, intelligent woman who proved her reputation as a great writer. I remember her first appearing at Newsday, her assignment to cover the police beat and that first pregnancy. She left the paper to pursue her life out West with her family and I never heard about her again--until I came upon this website. It certainly is a shock to read about what happened. It is very sad and I only hope her surviving daughter can get through this with the help of friends, which are many, and family. Tony DeStefano (Still at Newsday)
