I was lucky enough to spend two summers taking care of Katy and Chase. Every morning before swimming lessons the girls would read to me, we would lay in the hammock and drink tea. They were so precious. We spent a lot of time around the house, and I took every chance I got to peek in on Sandy and see what she was writing about that day or talk to John about what he was working on. I always looked up to Sandy and John and admired their girls so much. There was a huge piece of me that always wished I was in their family...and I guess for a few summers I got to pretend that I was. I don't think that I ever thanked them properly for the time and let them know how much I adored them. I have thought about them often in the years since then, and daily since I found out about the accident. But I hope that they know how much they meant to me, and how much I have tried to see the world from their point of view.
